Yoko Ono honours the city of Marostica on the occasion of the Traditional Living Chess Game, with her artwork: "DREAM", 2016
The event is part of the series “Advertising Art” developed by the artist. In 2009, in collaboration with Fondazione Bonotto, on the occasion of Yoko Ono receiving the Leone d’Oro from the Venice Biennale, thousands of billboards and posters with the word DREAM were installed in many areas of major Italian cities.
With this artwork, DREAM, a word became a manifesto which sums up the complexity of the times, the uncertain future, crisis, and values. A word that could make a stand and give an indication. The artist chose the word DREAM in order to condense in its possibilities of meaning, visions, and future hopes.
